Eph Diamond built an extraordinary legacy through his leadership, service, and commitment to excellence. After earning an engineering degree from Queen’s University, he joined the Royal Canadian Navy, where he rose to the rank of officer. Following his military service, he co-founded the Whitecastle Group and went on to serve as its CEO and Chairman.

Throughout his distinguished career, Eph received numerous honours recognizing his contributions to business and society. These included the Israeli Prime Minister’s Medal for Humanitarian Services (1979), the Human Relations Award from the Canadian Council of Christians and Jews (1980), induction into the Canadian Business Hall of Fame (1988), and appointment to the Order of Canada (1990), one of the country’s highest civilian honours. His remarkable accomplishments continue to inspire the company’s values and long-term vision.

Today, DiamondCorp is led by Eph’s son, Stephen Diamond, who serves as President and CEO. Trained as a lawyer, Stephen founded DiamondCorp with a vision of creating a development company that prioritized collaboration over confrontation. Rather than relying on lengthy legal disputes, he sought to build strong relationships with city councillors, planners, residents, and community stakeholders.

This collaborative approach has become one of DiamondCorp’s defining strengths. Stephen has earned a reputation for successfully reaching consensus with municipalities, avoiding the need to resolve projects through the Ontario Municipal Board. By working closely with communities and local governments, DiamondCorp is able to deliver developments that create lasting value for residents, investors, and the city alike.

The company focuses on progressive urban development by thoughtfully rezoning land for more appropriate uses and densities while ensuring each project reflects the character of its surrounding neighbourhood. One of the firm’s landmark projects is The Well, an eight-acre mixed-use development in downtown Toronto. The project demonstrates DiamondCorp’s commitment to responsive planning. After receiving feedback that the original design did not fully reflect the character of the King-Spadina neighbourhood, the team revised the architectural plans to better align with community expectations. Upon completion, The Well will feature residential, office, and retail space centered around a vibrant public square designed to host community events and gatherings.
